Summer can be something of a doubled edge sword. On the one hand, it’s completely amazing: the long days of sun-filled weathers, BBQs, excursions, and so on. On the other, it can be a bit daunting, especially if you have kids and the money is right. How do you navigate all the possibilities of the season with the reality that the bank balance just isn’t what it used to be? The good news is that you have more options to have a memorable summer than you might realize. It just requires a little bit of thinking outside the box.
Filling up the Calendar
– Before the kids are off school, get a few fun activities in the diary. Arrange days out with other parents, trips to the beach, days of football and other sports, and so on; nothing that will break the bank, but which will make sure everyone will have fun. If you’re not planning on going away, this will make sure there’s still a buzz of excitement going into those six or seven weeks of fun.
– Just because you don’t currently have bags of cash to play doesn’t mean that you can’t look at taking a family holiday abroad. There are many, many cheap deals to be had, especially if you’re flexible with where and when you go. If money’s too tight to splash the cash upfront, take a look at poor credit loans; you’ll be able to go on a holiday now but pay for it over a longer period. When you’re sipping cocktails by the pool, you might think that going abroad is one of the better decisions you’ve made recently!
– As much as we’d like to think that it’ll be a summer filled with sunny weather, we have to be realistic. It’s going to rain. How much? No one knows for sure – experts are saying it could be a really great summer actually – but it’ll happen eventually. When it does happen, don’t lament it: embrace it. This is your chance for cheap, cheerful fun. Dress up, put on shows, have singing competitions, and so on. Make your own fun, and you won’t have to spend a penny!
– When all else fails, resort to the tried, tested, and completely free activity: the art of sitting in your garden and soaking up the rays. Life doesn’t get much better than that!
