When I first brought my baby home, I honestly hated bathing him… And he hated experiencing baths. As anyone that followed my social media at that point knows, he was really difficult to bathe as he screamed the house down as soon as his toes touched the water. That was just in his baby bath, too! When someone got in touch about trying out a new bath contraption, I knew I had to give it a go.
When it arrived, I was pleasantly surprised – the quality of materials was high, and it was a sturdy product made from metal, plastic and a mesh-like material. It didn’t feel cheap like a lot of bath accessories tend to, and it actually felt safe – I had no worries about putting Baby Button in it to indulge in his bath.
I really liked this material. It gives a quick drying, soft finish while still being printed in quite a trendy design. It had a slight give too, so it looked really snug and gives baby the support they need while still being sturdy enough to not stretch out of shape with usage. When you invest in something for your newborn, you really do invest – money can be tight enough, you don’t want to splurge on something that won’t last.
We live in an old, draughty house.
The issue I ran into using this, was that the bather could only be used in our bath and not a baby bath, which is ‘added on’ to our home. What used to be an outdoor toilet, is now the bathroom so it can be incredibly cold.. The bather was big in our bath, and laid Bay Button down at a rather laid back angle (even on its firdt setting!) so I couldn’t fill the bath to keep him warm and keep him above water. Instead, bathtime is now a social affair and Baby Button jumps in with me and we have a splash around.
We did try use another bathroom so I could get some photographs for this post, but it was unfamiliar and Baby Button just wasn’t happy so it was mission aborted. While it wasn’t useful to us – it was only because of the angle it reclined to and our bathroom. In a bathroom which is more modern I can see this being a wonderful addition to the bathtime arsenal!
