When 2019 began, I made the decision to make changes in my life and at home to be more eco friendly and sustainable. To help me along, I joined various groups on Facebook — but one really has stood out, and has become an invaluable resource. The Eco Living Community was founded by a lady called Jen, who is an incredible font of knowledge for all things green — and she’s on her own journey too!
When Jen asked if I wanted to give some products a test, I bit her hand off — I know she has her own business (click to join and view her latest catalogue!) and knew anything she deemed good enough to sell, would be something worth trying.
A change I had already made was to switch my plastic toothbrush (which is now in my cleaning caddy, it’s great for cleaning between grout and our pesky loose bath side!) for a bamboo one. Now I actually purchased some Denttabs.
When I ordered these, I didn’t know what to expect — chewing a tablet and then brushing your teeth? Surely that wasn’t as refreshing as actually using toothpaste — and would it leave you feeling clean? I hate that fuzzy toothed feeling and can be quite particular about brushing.
There was no need to be worried. These tiny little tablets not only give you a clean feeling, but they leave your breath smelling fresh and minty too! It does take a little practice to chew and ‘disperse’ the product around all of your teeth, but once you’ve got it they work really well.
The only product that I haven’t loved completely was the shampoo bar — but, hair takes a while to adjust to shampoo bars and while I’ve been taking my hair from brunette to blonde it hasn’t been the best time to try and make the switch. I used the bar and it left my hair feeling heavy, but I didn’t give it a rinse afterwards with Apple Cider Vinegar which is recommended. That could be where the issue lies. I’ll be giving this another go with more perseverance!
Beeswax wraps are my new favourite thing.
Instead of foil or cling film, use one of these! They’re easily washable and something I’ve used countless times with BB’s dinners over the last few weeks — and let’s face it, they’re much more aesthetically pleasing too. I had this in my bag when we went on our little adventures a few weeks ago, it came in really useful when BB ate half of a snack and I had to save the rest. I’ll be buying some more of these in different sizes!
The last product I was sent was a bamboo straw. Now, I’m already carrying metal straws (pictured below, purchased by myself) around in my backpack for when we need them, but they’re a little thin and.. Well, stabby, for when BB needs one.
This bamboo straw has been added to my pouch, and is perfect for just that. I also have it on good authority that it’s better for thick McDonalds milkshakes than the metal straws due to it being wider!
I was gifted these products in order to provide an unbiased review.
