Living Arrows | Seven

Things have settled down for us in the last two nights! I’m probably jinxing myself as I write this, but he’s been sleeping a little longer and then last night in a new sleeping bag, he woke three times. Three times is normal for us, so I’m hoping that we might have a chance to catch up on some sleep.

I managed to have a bit of a peek in BB’s mouth this week, discovering some of his back teeth cutting. That could be the reason he’s so unsettled, as I’ve heard the back teeth are some of the worst to come through — it explains why he’s so clingy and upset at the moment. It’s nice to have so many cuddles with him, but it’s definitely hard to be constantly in demand. Even washing up or cooking, I have a tiny person attached to my leg.

My family came to visit this week, bringing with them some fantastic new goodies for BB — light up ducks for the bath, some new (much bigger) sleeping bags, a Toot Toot train which he’s transfixed by and a new cuddly for his collection. Living so far away from my family is painful, especially as BB is their one and only grandchild… But they make sure he feels loved (and often spoiled) by sending lots of lovely gifts for him and visiting when they can. My cousin sent a trio of parcels this week, absolutely stuffed to the brim with CBeebies characters — her two boys had passed them on, and I’m forever grateful! He’s so excited in a morning to watch his favourites while surrounded by them. The Twirly Woo’s and Bing (of course!) especially.

My mission this week is to buy a Tuff Tray. We’ve got our garden back after a drainage disaster (think a back yard full of standing water…) and I want to start getting some outdoor fun together!

Living Arrows

Living Arrows is about celebrating childhood and its trials & tribulations. The project originally took it’s name from a poem by Kahlil Gibran, “You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth” and each Monday I’m going to share a moment from our week. Over the course of 52 weeks, I’ll have a series of snapshots built up which shows my little boy blossoming!
