After a hectic Christmas punctuated by flu, colds and conjunctivitis we ventured out to our favourite playgroup this week — and BB had a blast. Held at a local church, it’s replaced the Surestart centres I used to visit when BB was much smaller and has children from birth to four years old frequently attending.
It was wonderful seeing him socialising, especially after so long in a ‘quarantine’ of sorts. Yes he did snatch, yes he did try crawl over other children but he also tried to play with other children too — so he’s learning how to be social! This was the first week I made an effort to stay back a little bit and let him go where he wanted, integrating with who he wanted instead of sitting next to him and playing the whole session. It was hard, but it paid off and I’m so proud.
Living Arrows is about celebrating childhood and its trials & tribulations. The project originally took it’s name from a poem by Kahlil Gibran, “You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth” and each Monday I’m going to share a moment from our week. Over the course of 52 weeks, I’ll have a series of snapshots built up which shows my little boy blossoming!
