Living Arrows | Four

It’s been a subdued week here in the Button household. Vaccinations last week have made little Button under the weather with a fever, so nights have been a little unsettled making this Mum a zombie most days. Regardless of how I’m feeling, I’ve done my best to get out of the house even if it’s a walk into town and back home again — just to escape the four walls and shake off the cabin fever.

Wintery weather is creeping up on us this year so we’ve wrapped up and chucked on the rain cover before heading out. It’s not his favourite, but he enjoys tracing the raindrops over the clear hood with his fingers, and it keeps him warm and dry.

The biggest news this week is that we’ve got a walker! He’s a little clumsy and won’t do it for long, but steps have been taken and tears have been shed by this proud Mum watching her little boy grow. I’m so excited for what the next few months hold for me and my favourite, especially now he’s getting his toddling legs. Does that officially make me the Mum of a toddler?

A huge thank you to those who took the time to leave advice about our (well, my) breastfeeding dilemma. I feel so much more secure in the fact we still feed, knowing other children didn’t wean until much later. Sometimes it’s so hard being this new ‘Mum’ role as every child is different, and it’s hard to know sometimes if you’re doing the right thing!

Living Arrows

Living Arrows is about celebrating childhood and its trials & tribulations. The project originally took it’s name from a poem by Kahlil Gibran, “You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth” and each Monday I’m going to share a moment from our week. Over the course of 52 weeks, I’ll have a series of snapshots built up which shows my little boy blossoming!

  • YAY for him walking! I love the picture through the raincover, it’s a view I remember so well. I hope he’s feeling better after the jabs x

    • He’s growing up so fast! 😭

I did speak to soon in the whole jab recovery field — this week he’s had a rash and a whole bunch of other lovely accompaniments so it’s been a bit hellish for us both bless him.

God bless the rain cover! 🙌🏻
