Living Arrows | Five

This week has been a fog of disturbed nights and long days — I spoke too soon last week about the vaccinations and they’ve really hit him hard the last few days. We’ve had a rash, fever, and he just doesn’t want to sleep… Or let me do anything. Separation anxiety is rife, and while I’m pushing through it’s tough. I can’t stand up without him getting upset, never mind do anything like take a plate into the kitchen or make a coffee! I do love to be loved, but I’m looking forward to this phase being well and truly over.

I managed to get this photograph on one of his naps. Well, they aren’t really naps as such.. He’s gone from napping for two hours each nap, to barely scraping half an hour or an hour. That means the whole ‘sleep when baby sleep’ approach I used to make use of has gone out of the window!

That said, we’ve had some really good moments this week. I managed to catch him toddling on camera, and his appetite is enormous! He’s usually like a little humming bird, picking at food here and there. But this week he’s been really into eating, and I couldn’t be happier as it was something that I’ve always worried about in the back of my mind. He does still enjoy throwing food on the floor though, so that hasn’t changed at all!

Living Arrows

Living Arrows is about celebrating childhood and its trials & tribulations. The project originally took it’s name from a poem by Kahlil Gibran, “You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth” and each Monday I’m going to share a moment from our week. Over the course of 52 weeks, I’ll have a series of snapshots built up which shows my little boy blossoming!
