This week has been really tough. I’m not sure whether it’s the weather (whether it’s the wea-… You get it!) or if it’s just a phase he’s going through but sleep just isn’t a thing right now. We’ve gone right back to seven or eight wakes during the night.
These aren’t just fleeting wakes either, he feeds and then refuses to unlatch — meaning I have to unlatch him which wakes him and the process starts again. He’s also started crying out and whinging while he sleeps which isn’t great for this sleep deprived mum — I wake up each time he does and watch him via the video monitor as he spends 15 minutes tossing and turning to get comfortable again.
I even took him on a long ramble with my mother in law yesterday and yet he fought sleep until 9pm, and still woke six or seven times. The photograph today is while we were on that ramble — just letting him go wild!
Living Arrows is about celebrating childhood and its trials & tribulations. The project originally took it’s name from a poem by Kahlil Gibran, “You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth” and each Monday I’m going to share a moment from our week. Over the course of 52 weeks, I’ll have a series of snapshots built up which shows my little boy blossoming!
